Dog Training and Behaviour Consultant

High Lane and surrounding areas

Hound Solo Dog Training and Behaviour Consultancy was founded by Clare in the summer of 2019 to provide a complete behaviour and training service to help you and your dog live your best lives together. Our services include:

Behaviour consultations in your own home to assess, and advise on, your dog’s specific problem behaviours. Behaviour consultation packages also provide a bespoke behaviour modification and training plan for you to work through with Clare’s support. Behaviour consultations are undertaken with a vet’s support and, following initial discussions, you will be provided with a bespoke referral letter to take to your vet for completion.

One to one training sessions for you and your dog to learn together, either in person in your own home or at your favourite outdoor location, or via online video chat if preferred.

Clare has a BSc honours degree in Canine Behaviour Management and Training and an MSc in Applied Animal Behaviour and Training, with a practical focus on pet dogs. She regularly attends seminars and conferences held by world class animal trainers and dog behaviour specialists to keep her knowledge and skills fresh and up to date. Clare is a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (member no. 01612), a membership association that rigorously assesses candidates before offering membership.

Clare has lived with dogs since 2003 when her first dog, Murphy, introduced her to the joys of working cocker spaniels as pets. The expansion of her canine family in the years to follow, and the daily struggles of her anxious dog, Barney, led her to start training with more purpose and she has been formally studying canine behaviour and training since 2014.

Clare is committed to the promotion of science-based, force-free training and pet care. At Hound Solo we believe in treating our canine family members with kindness and compassion, so the training methods used are backed by evidence from the latest behaviour science research and use food, games, and toys as rewards.

Hound Solo in-person services are available to owners within the Stockport, High Peak and East Cheshire areas. Mileage charges may apply for some locations. Remote consultations are available to all via zoom and WhatsApp video.

Our Customer Reviews Review Business

    Kathy Q says:

We recently rehomed an 8 month old labrador, and soon realised we needed some specialised help and support. We contacted Clare within the first week and her advice, continued support and training skills have proved invaluable to us. Not only has she managed to help with all the current issues Meg has, Clare has also helped calm some of our nerves that come with rehoming an adolescent dog! Clare is friendly, very knowledgeable, non-judgemental and she obviously loves her job and dogs! Thank you!

    Nic Foster says:

As first time dog owners with a lovely, lively Cockapoo puppy, Clare has been brilliant in equipping us with the skills we needed to end up with a happy, responsive dog who we now have the confidence to walk off lead with good recall. Clare has a warm, calm, patient and very knowledgable approach and a real understanding of how to get the best out of our dog. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her ☺️
